A Weekend in Lake Arrowhead! #WordyWednesday

First off, I just want to say a big THANK YOU to my readers these past few weeks. My visitor stats/traffic has been extremely high & I love seeing a comment or notification that you retweeted a post for me. THANKS! Its great to be reminded I am not just writing to no one & its because of my readership that I have been getting such amazing opportunities to go to new placesย ๐Ÿ™‚

Today, I am excited to share with you a bit about our past weekend; Mike & I had the opportunity to take the trek up the 210 highway to Lake Arrowhead for our friend’s 30th birthday bash! I had never been to that area & it was gorgeous; it reminded me so much of other California destinations I love like Solvang & Chico.

LakeThe drive up from SoCal begins like any other; lots of freeway. Then, once you begin to get out of the LA traffic, you’re routed for about 20 miles through surface streets that take you higher…& higher! up into the mountains on a curvy, narrow, windy road (& up to about 5,000 feet elevation!) into The San Bernardino National Forest. Feeling the air get crisper, clearer, as well as the sky becoming a sharp blue, is such a refreshing feeling & perfect for the weekend.

I had never thought of a cabin as a birthday getaway, but it couldn’t be more PERFECT & its something I would totally recommend for anyone wanting to not only get away, but have fun & be louder than usual as you’re away from it all….& your neighbors. We were treated to friends on guitars playing Metallica & other metal faves…oh, yeah!

Mikes friends couldn’t have been more fun & our Birthday girl Amanda dressed up as a Flapper to say goodbye to her “Roaring 20’s”! ๐Ÿ˜‰ We had loads of fun while we literally just did…not much. Mike & I crammed in some serious fuse ball practice, drank a bit too much & ate a bit more than usual…then slept well in the quiet noise of the mountains!

There were about 12 of us & at just $40 a person, we got to stay over in a cute cabin home with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a wet bar, a kitchen & my favorite feature….a GAME ROOM! boasting a fuse ball table, ping pong & a pool table.

Have you ever been to Lake Arrowhead, or thought of going up there? Definitely keep it in mind for any kind of celebration…I already wanna go back! xo

aw, you guys are so cute! lovely couple. you know, a cabin getaway is pretty awesome – I had not been to the mountains since I was a kid, up until 3 weeks ago and it was so fun…the altitude made me feel a bit funny…but other than that so cool Anywho – your cabin sounds awesome. Glad you had a fun time escaping from crazy city life. xo
