Weekend Getaway: Sacramento. #TravelTuesday

Cap

Its Tuesday & you know what that means, another installment in my Weekend Getaway series 🙂 I am loving revisiting some of my favorite places in California, & today I want to take you to our capital, Sacramento. When we visited there in January, I seriously found a new favorite city. Perfect for a date getaway, for the family, anyone. Enjoy!

WHAT TO DO

Do you like shopping? Check out their famous Antique Faire which sets up shop every 2nd Sunday of the month, or cruise along Midtown to find adorable, one of a kind shops that will perfectly satisfy your shop-til-you-drop needs. Like wine? From Wine Tasting Tuesdays to this Sacramento Wine Guide, get your taste on quite easily!

Another great option is being OUTSIDE & taking a hike or enjoying a picnic at one of Sacramento’s many trails & nature parks. While I have yet to enjoy  places like Bridgeway Island Park & River Walk Park, they’re at the top of my list for my next visit.

LEARN ABOUT THE STATE

At The California State Capital! It was Mike & my first time exploring & it was a gorgeous place. Filled with so much history & stunning architecture. We really enjoyed looking at each portrait of every California Governor as you make your way to the top of the building. They also offer tours, an art museum & an exhibit room with limited time events to see. Cute gift shop, too!

WHERE TO STAY

Sacramento’s only Triple A 4 diamond bed & breakfast, The Amber House, is the only place to call home while in our state’s capital, in my opinion. With a full breakfast each morning, coffee at your door, cookies at bedtime & hosts that feel like family, do yourself a favor & make your reservations if you head to Sacramento.

Have you been to Sacramento yet? What are some must-see’s for you? 🙂 xo

Interesting article on a city that I bet many overlook, I know I have. I have driven through Sacramento on the way to Tahoe but your article gives me some good reasons to stop by next time. Thanks

This post brings back memories when I used to go to Old Town Sac in my youth. I would love to take my kids here for a visit.
