The Hello Kitty Supercute Friendship Festival!

(Disclosure: I will be covering this event. All opinions are my own & special thanks to Sanrio for the invite.)

Growing up, it was a huge deal when we went to the mall. I know that sounds normal for anyone, especially a little girl, but for me? It was ALL about The Sanrio Surprises Store. Sounding a bit like a Grandma, “Back in my day”, that was my only source to buy my Hello Kitty must-haves like the mini sticker books, note pads & that ever-so-addicting bubble gum, which I still seek out when I see a Sanrio shop at my shopping plaza! If you had told me when I grew up that Hello Kitty would be accessible literally everywhere, even Wal_Mart, I would have thought you were talking crazy to me.

But, nope! Hello Kitty & Sanrio are bigger than ever. Between the recent success here in LA of their convention, exhibit & next up, cafe, Hello Kitty isn’t going anywhere, & me & my friends couldn’t be any happier to know that fact.

Next up? Hello Kitty & her friends are hitting the road with a tour for The Hello Kitty’s Supercute Friendship Festival, coming to The Forum in Los Angeles June 12th through the 14th! “Hello Kitty’s Supercute Friendship Festival offers a new Sanrio experience to fans across the country,” said Janet Hsu, President and COO of Sanrio, Inc. “Our first-ever live tour goes beyond a traditional sit-down show format and brings the world of Sanrio to life with a unique combination of stage performances, interactive exhibits and more surprises for fans of all ages, unlike anything seen before.” Adds Jim Waters, Senior Vice President of Production for VEE Corporation, “The collaboration between VEE Corporation and Sanrio will invite fans to step inside a Hello Kitty wonderland in their hometown,” . “Together we’ve created an experience that Sanrio fans of all ages will enjoy.”

HK (as us in the know & old friends like to call Hello Kitty) and her supercute friends Dear Daniel, My Melody, Badtz-Maru, Keroppi, Chococat and Purin will appear in this unique celebration of fun, friendship and Sanrio surprises! Each event will feature Hello Kitty and her friends in multi-stage live performances and DJ-driven dance sequences (I am most excited that it seems Keroppi takes the stage as one of the DJ’s), as well as interactive exhibits, animation, art, fashion, photo opportunities, event-exclusive merchandise and much more, all in one immersive festival environment.

Tickets are available NOW so check out www.hellokittyfestival.com and www.Facebook.com/HelloKittyFestival before they sell out, which I am sure they will. Have fun! xo

I am so jealous! I would love to go to an event like this. I was the kid who saved my allowance to buy Sanrio products. My daughter is the same way now.

I’m so jealous! I loved Hello Kitty growing up too. Our store at the mall was called “The Happiness Shop” and had all Hello Kitty products, every direction you looked. I was so surprised about 10 years ago when Hello Kitty items came back and were readily accessible.

I’ve always wondered what Hello Kitty was all about! Any idea?

This is so interesting! I always used to peek into the Sanrio store when I was younger but was never really that into it. I can’t believe it’s gotten so big though and is still around!

Same here! Especially when I was little, since only certain shops had HK stuff, alot of my friends didn’t have much.

So cute! I just saw someone post about the Hello Kitty cafe/truck that travels around and I can’t wait for it to make it to my city. Lots of fans here!
