Take a Trip to Thousand Oaks to see Incendio Flamenco!
One of my most favorite concert memories was seeing The Gypsy Kings nearly 10 years ago. I won the tickets on the radio yet hardly knew anything about them, but that show went on to become easily in my top 5 of favorite live shows ever. With their flare of flamenco, I have loved that genre ever since & when Cindy Marie Jenkins invited me out to a rehearsal of INCENDIO FLAMENCO, the third annual showcase presentation by master choreographer, performing artist and teacher Roberto Amaral, I had no idea what to expect…& seriously, my mind was blown….
Incendio Flamenco is a dynamic and colorful program spotlighting fiery Flamenco, elegant Spanish contemporary dance and cutting-edge modern Flamenco fusion.
Critically acclaimed and widely recognized for his trademark high standard of excellence in Flamenco and classical/contemporary Spanish dance, Roberto Amaral once again brings an electrifying presentation of dazzling Spanish-themed dances and songs to the wonderfully intimate and state of the art Scherr Forum Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.
INCENDIO FLAMENCO showcases 35 of the most talented dancers of Mr. Amaral’s renowned studio. Some of the featured performers include Alfredo Aja, Ana Maria Suarez, Elisa Rosales Gamero, Susana Paraíso, Melissa Sagerian, Debra “La Fiera”, Ricardo Ramírez and Harut Badalyan.
As a special added attraction this year, the program will unveil the debut of Amaral’s new Flamenco fusion music/dance ensemble: “Fuego Exótico”, featuring world-class artists, including flamenco guitarists Ben Woods and Kai Narezo, drummer Joey Heredia, bassist Keith Jones, keyboardist Joey Navarro, percussionist Gerardo Morales and dancers/singers Arleen Hurtado and Rocio Ponce. This special presentation will be highlighted by world premiere production numbers created and sung by Roberto Amaral.
It was amazing to watch this man work; he directs, choreographs, sings & writes all of his own material you will hear in the production.
Amaral is a Los Angeles/Van Nuys based master teacher and choreographer specializing in flamenco and classical Spanish dance. He has inspired and shaped countless students into professional dancers in both flamenco and classical Spanish dance. The well-known “Amaral touch” is what makes a polished professional who stands above the rest. The dancers you will see in the show range from ballerinas to boutique owners, & the ages run from teens to 60s….
Don’t miss your two chances to see this passionate, dynamic group! The performances will be this Sunday, August 11th, at 2:00 pm and 6:30 pm, inside The Scherr Forum Theatre at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza/Bank of America Performing Arts Center in Thousand Oaks, California, only about an hour out of LA, this would be the perfect day trip or overnight getaway….theres awesome shopping & outlet stores in Thousand Oaks, just sayin’ 😉 Get your tickets at the theater box office, through The Amaral Studio, or by clicking here.
