This Monday night at one of my favorite places, The Pasadena Playhouse, will find The Playhouse hosting One Starry Night, a fabulous benefit concert for ALS. Featuring an array of wonderful singers & stars, I am so happy to say that I will be in attendance. Co-Organizer, Jonathan White, was kind enough to answer some questions to tell us more about the event…

What made this event come together?
“My co-producer, Juliana Hansen, and myself wanted to produce an evening of incredible entertainment to help a truly vital cause.Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a devastating neurodegenerative disease with no known cure. It affects millions of people and families worldwide, including many in California. In partnership with The ALS Association – Golden West Chapter, Inc., Juliana and I want to raise both funds and awareness to fight ALS and to help people with ALS and their families. So many incredible performing artists and supporters came forth when we began planning this benefit, and we’re both thrilled with the incredible line-up! Irving Berlin said it best: ‘there’s no people like show people!'”

Can you tell me a bit more about ALS?
ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and
spinal cord. People with ALS eventually lose the ability to initiate and control muscle
movement, which often leads to total paralysis and death within two to five years of diagnosis.
For unknown reasons, veterans are twice as likely to develop ALS as the general population.
There is no cure, and only one drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration
modestly extends survival.

What should we expect at One Starry Night?
At ONE STARRY NIGHT, audiences will be swept away by an unforgettable line-up of some of the top live performers of our era. With the magic of a 1960’s variety show and an eclectic array of songs and acts, it will be a once-in-a-lifetime entertainment extravaganza!

Tickets will definitely sell out, so order now by visiting their site & I will see you there! xo

(*Disclosure: I will be in attendence of One Starry Night for review purposes.)
