I Climbed to the Top of Stoney Point Park!

You read right, my friends. While I love to use the term, “Hiker,” I’m actually not much of one. I do little excursions with Hammy or friends, but when my boyfriend recommended we go to Stoney Point in Chatsworth, California, I completely thought we would take a nice, little, romantic stroll. Which it was, but more like a nice, long, romantic, rock climbing hike!

Considered to be a great place to practice the sport of climbing boulders, Michael was with me every step of the way. I jumped from one boulder to another, squat my legs down on rocks using the support of my hands without ripping my pants, dodging red ants, and at one point, using only one hand to support and hold myself from one boulder onto another lower one.

Once we were at the top, we went down. Like, DOWN and under and between beautiful rocks. What kept striking me is not only all of the natural beauty, but how these works of nature have ways to keep us crazy people climbing, safe. The curves able to act as handles, the hollow sections of a boulder perfect to step your foot into as you reach onto another.

It brought to mind a quote I just read following the too-soon death of actor, Paul Walker, whom once said, “When I go surfing and snow boarding and I’m always around nature. I look at everything and think, ‘Who couldn’t believe there’s a God? Is all this a mistake?’ It just blows me away.” There certainly is some kind of higher being out there, to make such great outdoors.

Is there anything you have not done, or think you cannot? I never ever would have thought I would hike and rick climb like I did the last week. I would love to hear your thoughts! 🙂 xo
