Guest Post: Ventura & Roadshow Revival Pay Tribute to Johnny Cash…
(This past Saturday was The Roadshow Revival’s Tribute to Johnny Cash in Ventura! While I was invited to cover this event, I unable to make it, & instead, fellow awesome Blogger, Monica Young stepped up for me & shares her experience below with a great recap & photos. Enjoy! xo)
Last Saturday I attended the 6th annual tribute to the life and music of Johnny Cash (Roadshow Revival: A Tribute to the Music of Johnny Cash). The weather was perfect. Not too warm, not too cold, just around 70 degrees with the characteristic breeze of the ocean near the beach at the Ventura County Fairgrounds.
I got there just a couple of hours after the event had started and I was surprised to see how many people attend this festival. I guess the combination of great music from Johnny and a fabulous display of classic cars brings people from all over the world to enjoy the festivities.
It was really cool to be able to enjoy the music from Johnny Cash played by a variety of great bands and also to enjoy the display of motorcycles, hot rods, vendors of crafts, foods, collectibles and vintage goods.
There was also a pin-up pageant, and the ladies walked around the festival taking pictures with attendees and socializing with the hope of gaining votes for the contest.
The festival also counts with a kid’s corral with bouncers and other activities for kids, great for all the families attending the festival!
This year some of the bands we were able to enjoy were Los Lobos, the Paladins, Jonny Two
Bags (Social Distortion’s Guitarist) and The Americans.
I heard that there is a VIP package that includes preferred viewing at the main stage and food and drinks. That might be something worth trying next time. Also for future times, I know it is recommended to take a blanket of some foldable chairs to enjoy the music without having to be standing up all the time.
