Gluten Free at Wood Ranch Restaurant..
Have you ever been to Wood Ranch Restaurant? I had not heard of it prior to this past week. When we were invited to a friends birthday dinner at their Agoura Hills location, I did what I always do when I hear of an unfamiliar diner; I google if they’re gluten free friendly 😉 & I was thrilled to read that they are VERY accommodating. While they cannot offer a separate work area or kitchen, making it not a ‘gluten free facility’, they’re still more than happy to assist you at eating at their delicious establishment, though.
The atmosphere was very lively, fun & inviting. Once we were all seated, our waitress wasted no time in greeting us & taking drink orders. We all know I had to try their house margarita, which was extra lime-y, but good. I’ve had stronger, but it still hit the spot. For gluten free alterations, they can provide you with a special menu, or, you can simply order off the regular menu. I have never had trout, so I decided to give their Idaho Rainbow Trout a whirl; while their beef & most main courses are prepared on their BBQ open fire wood grill, gluten free offerings get the option of grilled or blackened (marinated is not gluten free). I chose grilled, along with a side of mashed potatoes. Some of my friends plates included 2 sides, which would have been perfect for me, but, I dealt with my yummy one side 😉
Luckily, their famous BBQ sauce IS gluten free, so, when my meal arrived, I smothered it in my fish & it was delicious! I am officially a fan of trout, & the potatoes weren’t too shabby, either. Mike’s brisket sandwich also looked good, as did the side of their mac & cheese…alas, not gluten free. Oh, well. The trout was grilled very well done, which is perfect for me. Thank goodness the sauce was suitable for me as otherwise, the fish would have been slightly dry & it was sans any herbs or toppings.
While I was too full for dessert, I am thrilled to say they have a flour-less chocolate cake & ice cream sundaes available for gluten free desserts! Along with the Agoura Hills location, you can find several throughout SoCal, including at The Grove. Click here to check out their web-site & let me know if you ever head out to Wood Ranch! xo

January 6, 2015 at 8:20 amThere are so many things I would never thought you’d have to think about being gluten free – like marinade, gravy, or BBQ sauce. Great you found a place that had some options for you!
