Breast Health with Violet Iodine! #HugsShouldntHurt

(This post is sponsored by Violet iodine, but all opinions expressed in this post are entirely my own.)

Ladies! Today is all about a dirty 3 letter word that most of us know all too well about: PMS. Or, if you want to give it more respect & be all proper: “Premenstrual Syndrome”. While a woman’s monthly cycle is actually a really cool, beautiful thing & part of life, for whatever reason, our bodies decide to go haywire about a week or 2 before the cycle kicks in. Making lives all across the globe miserable. Heres just a snippet of some common symptoms many females complain about during PMS:

  • Tension or anxiety
  • Depressed mood
  • Crying spells
  • Mood swings and irritability or anger
  • Appetite changes and food cravings
  • Trouble falling asleep (insomnia)
  • Social withdrawal
  • Poor concentration
  • Joint or muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Weight gain related to fluid retention
  • Abdominal bloating
  • Breast tenderness
  • Acne flare-ups
  • Constipation or diarrhea

Wow. Thats a very large tonic that I definitely relate to. Lately, as I am doing more for Along Comes Mary & finding myself traveling more often, I literally cannot get PMS get in the way of my life. One common symptom I have suffered with is the breast tenderness. I have tried holistic approaches before in an attempt to treat it, yet not to much avail. Thats where a new product on the market comes in: Violet iodine.

Iodine? Huh?! Was my initial thought when I was first asked if I would be interested in trying out this new pill. Here are some quick facts about Iodine from Violetdaily.com:

“Iodine’s primary role in the body is in the creation of the thyroid hormones, T3 and T4. The thyroid absorbs iodine to make and release these hormones into the blood. In addition to supporting proper thyroid function, iodine has other important effects, including maintenance of healthy breasts. Iodine-deficient breast tissue is an underlying cause of fibrocystic breast condition. Multiple studies show that iodine supplementation reduces indications of this condition.”

And, another question I had, & I bet you might as well: Is Iodine safe?

“Clinical studies have demonstrated safety and efficacy of molecular iodine over multi-month and multi-year daily use.

Excess iodine does not build up in the body the way other heavy metals do. Iodine is water-soluble and excess iodine is flushed from the body.”

Another great reason to consider Violet iodine? If your breast tenderness is so bad during your time of the month, that you cannot even enjoy a great big HUG from your significant other or kiddo! 😉 Thus, why the dietary supplement has created the best hashtag ever: #HugsShouldntHurt.

After all this information, I am IN to try out Violet iodine for 2 months. How about you? Lets talk during the #HugsShouldntHurt Twitter party July 14th at  8PM EST. All the info is at Viloetdaily.com & check back in with me here on the blog as I will be reporting back in a little over a month with an update on how my, er, ‘sisters’ are feeling! 😉

Interesting! I’m not sure if you can get that over the counter in the UK.

Interesting. I wonder if this is safe if you’re also taking thyroid medication for low thyroid function? I’ll be interested in seeing how it works out for you!
