An ORLY Manicure & A Vegan Dinner, Oh My!
Over the weekend, Erin from Horsing Around in LA & myself set out for a day of girl fun in Los Angeles courtesy of her friend, Kelly. She works at the gorgeous SPAritual where they proudly feature nail polish & products by ORLY. We were treated like princesses as soon as we walked in; being offered coffee, snacks & such a relaxing enviroment where everyone whispers while the surround sound is birds chirping as if you have gone from LA to the rainforest!
I admit: I think this was my first manicure! While I am a very ‘girly girl’, & there are some things I do treat myself too (Hair appointments, eye brows day, some favorite cosmetics…), getting my nails done had never been on my radar as something to get done, but I will tell you, after this afternoon, I think we can add this perk to my list!
I soon met with my lovely technician, Gayle (apologies if I mis-spell that!), who made me feel right at home as we chatted about concerts, TV guilty pleasures, how tall is David Duchovny, you know, girl stuff!;) First up she treated my cuticles to some treatments, & I was pleased to hear my nails look very healthy. Next, were several scrubs & lotions for my arms as well as prep bases for my nails. One of my favorite things she did was after all the scrubs & ointments on my arms, she washes them off by wrapping them in hot wash cloths & gives you a fabulous neck massage. Ahhh!
When it was time to put nail polish on, she used ORLY’s Emerald City, which is a gorgeous jade-like green shade, perfect with St. Patrick’s Day time upon us. It has been 4 days since the manicure & the color is holding up great….alot better than my usual drugstore or discount store brands I frequent, let me tell you!:)
Afterwards, Erin & I headed for dinner at a wonderful Gluten Free/Vegan cafe in the heart of Culver City called Native Foods. Luckily, they have afew locations in the southland as I cannot wait to return! I had the Rockin’ Moroccin’ Tofu Bowl; it was a delicious bowl of quinoa with steamed veggies & tofu kabobs over it, in a mild sauce. Other entrees that caught my eye were the tempeh tacos & GF mac & cheese. Our drinks were on the house as we joined their frequent club…I chose the lavender lemonade & at first was skeptical, but luckily it had more of a subtle lavender taste, which made it….sooo YUM! They have outdoor seating as well as in-door, making it perfect if you have a canine you would like to bring along:)
(Disclosure: I was provided with a complimentary manicure/spa treatment. All opinions are my own & it was a wonderful experience!)

March 3, 2013 at 11:39 pmI actually thought this was going to be a pedi, and was nervous! I feel strange about a stranger at my feet, too!
