A Birthday Date Brunch at BJ’s Restaurant!

Something that I have noticed since being in a wonderful, steady relationship & buying a town home, caring for 2 dogs & being knee-deep in home improvements & paying bills is that one day quickly turns into the next. When Mike & I were first dating, it seemed much more common to “hit the town” or have more date nights outside of the house, instead of racing home from work, making a quick meal & getting cozy in front of Netflix before we fall asleep.

So, you can imagine I was so excited when I connected with BJ’s Restaurants & they invited us out to try some of their awesome food. Already a fan of their massive menu, which includes gluten-free pizza, beer & that famous Pizooki (yep, all available gluten-free!), Michael & I decided to have a great birthday weekend out for his big day a few weekends back. We began with an early morning in Malibu, chilling on the sand & watching the waves. Then, as our tummies began to grumble, we headed to our BJ’s in Woodland Hills, just in time to enjoy their Weekend Brunch before going to check out Trainwreck (Great film! Go now, perfect date movie).

A lot of people might be surprised to know that BJ’s does indeed do a weekend brunch! While many seem to be most familiar with the California chain for their amazing deep dish pizza, you can also get burgers, chicken & several other entrees to go with their never-ending selection of brews, wines & specialty cocktails. I recently tried their White Peach Margarita, currently one of their “Summer Sippers” they’ve been promoting. Usually, peach & margarita would be 2 of my favorite words, yet this was a very sweet concoction, so, on our Sunday AM trip, I decided to go traditional & have a mimosa. Other promotional drinks at the moment is The Malibu Tropical Punch & a Watermelon Mojito…mmm 😉

My birthday boy decided to give their Baked Italian Omelette a whirl, while I ordered their egg white veggie…which comes with fruit but why be healthy when you’re celebrating a birthday?! So, I tried their potatoes which I now love. There was one little annoyance in that Mike was not given any butter or jelly with his toast, & our server did not return for quite a while. Other than that, we were extremely pleased.

Even more so, as I had hinted when we arrived it was Mike’s birthday, & near the end of our visit, I was so happy that I saw the server heading our way with a lit Pizooki, all for my man! 🙂

Happy Birthday, Michael! Did you know Mike is also my Photographer for the blog?

BJ’s also has some great brand new offerings on their menu, called their EnLIGHTened Entrees, all boasting loads of flavor & all under 795 calories. Right now, I am loving the promotion surrounding their new dishes featuring Quinoa, even going so far recently as to say you can eat at their restaurant free for your lifetime if you name a child Quinoa! Were they serious? Name a kid Quinoa, & lets find out!

To find out more about BJ’s, visit their web-site HERE & tell me, do you love their food enough to name a child Quinoa? 😉 xo

(*Disclosure: A huge thanks to BJ’s for inviting me to try out their food on behalf of this feature. All opinions are my own.)

Being a fellow Californian, I of course know of BJs and those famous deep dish pizzas. Can’t compare with Chicago’s but for CA they are pretty darn good. Did not know about the brunch though so thanks for that tidbit of info Mary. The brunch menu is hopefully easier to choose from than their otherwise ginormous menu I hope. 🙂
