4 Questions for The Blog Hop Tour!
I am a pretty active member of The SITS Girls & love to check out their forums to meet other kick-ass female bloggers. One of those girls I was fortunate to come across was Natalie over on Natalie-Patalie. Natalie & I are kindred spirits since we both love THEATRE & to blog. Her musical picks are similar to mine & she’s made her passion for technical theatre a career, a field I love, as well. Natalie recently participated in a “Blog Hop” & was cool enough to tag me to join in on the fun! Below, are 4 questions we’re to answer then tag 3 favorite bloggers to keep the chain going 🙂 Thanks so much, Natalie, for including me & hopefully soon I can take a trek to SanFran to see a show with ya…or, come to SoCal anytime…WICKED is coming back to The Pantages, just sayin’ 😉
1) What am I working on?
As far as my blog goes, My boyfriend & I have the LA Street Food Fest this weekend, so, in order to have a complete guilt-free evening & still fit in my pants come Monday morning, I will try to hit the gym & stick to a fruit diet til then 😉
I have some amazing CONCERTS in July, that I will be telling my readers about. Some of my blogger girls & I will be seeing Cher with Cyndi Lauper, then I have 2 concerts with my most favorite musician, Tori Amos, end of July.
I still need to move out of my Pasadena studio! I am basically living with my boy, so, some packing parties should be in order, too
(Lets face it: I can be pretty goofy…)
2) How does my work differ from others of its genres?
I was asked this a few months ago. It’s a great question, & I think my blog is always changing a bit, so it’s a good thing to be asked periodically. I really take the term, “Lifestyle” blog to heart. While I love the blogs that have been able to find their one niche they stick to; mine has become a handful of topics I love to share on Along Comes Mary.
Travel is something I want to make happen more, & the LA events have been happening, which is awesome. I suppose what makes my work different, is that its coming from me & my mind. While you might read about the same play or a music festival from myself & other writers, you will only get my take on it from me. There’s only one Along Comes Mary! 😉
3) Why do I write/create what I do?
I have been writing since I was a kid; I always wanted an outlet for it & would not know how to make a ‘blog’ happen, yet always envied the term “Blogger”. This little blog has shown me opportunities are possible. I absolutely love being able to get out of the house to try something new then report back to my readers.
(My partner in crime.)
4) How does your writing/creating process work?
It’s always changing! Lately, since my day job is in Sales & I am driving all day, ideas come to me in the lovely LA traffic. I am all about binge writing & scheduling my posts; there’s nothing like the feeling of knowing your good on posts for the next 3, 4 days. Often, I will write a few posts at night while Mike (my boyfriend) is playing a video game or before he gets home with Tori playing in the background or an episode of SVU I have seen 8 times going on the TV.
Since I am doing more articles for PR, sometimes, its hard to not just copy & paste a press release I have been given. My goal is to always reference that, but not make it the entire post. While I love the sponsored opportunities, I still want my work to be authentic.
And, there you have it! 🙂 Now, my turn to TAG 3 bloggers I love to read:
Ann About Town is the brainchild of my friend, Ann Odle. She’s such a fun lady, & she was so sweet to play tourist with me on my first trip to Las Vegas, while she’s been many times, she made sure I saw all I wanted to see. She shares with readers her journey on the road to a beautiful life!
I just discovered Kriselle over at Livin’ and Lovin’ via The SoCal Lady Bloggers & love getting a glimpse into her life & thoughts. Her recent post about how she started dating her boyfriend was too darn sweet!
My friend, Melanie, has really made her niche on LA Explorer. Much like myself, she is out to remind us Angelinos how amazing & rich Los Angeles is. If you’re ever at a loss for what to do in LA (Or beyond, she does a great ‘Road Trip’ series), she is the ultimate source for fun ideas.
