4 Films to Check Out this Weekend!
Hey All! Whats new? 🙂 I have seen some awesome new flicks lately & thought it was about time I tell you a bit about each of them. From superheroes to dreamers, I bet theres something here for everyone. I haven’t seen Pitch Perfect 2 yet, though, so, let me know if you have & your thoughts. xo!
The Avengers
How can you go wrong with these guys?! Age of Ultron, the follow-up to Marvel’s blockbuster first Avengers film is everything you would hope for when this team returns, & then some. I know some have commented that it was too similar to the original or not as tight, blah blah, but in my opinion? I thought its even more bad-ass than when we last saw them in 2012. The cast is even more confident in their roles; you can tell they have worked together & have really become a family, both on & off-screen. James Spader as Ultron is brilliant, & I’m loving Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. Her own installment cannot come soon enough.
Cinderella
As someone who has grown up with the animated classic as her favorite, this was a tough sell for me! But, guess what? I loved it. Even my Mother said, “Really?!” What I really appreciated with this live action tale of Cinderella is how close they stayed true to the original cartoon. Unlike variations on classics like Maleficent (Just not my cup of tea), Cinderella is completley what you would expect. While there are some slight add-on’s, they add more character detail to those we already know & love. I also appreciate they didn’t go hog-wild with the mice! They’re in the movie & adorable, yet don’t necessarily talk, which is a good thing. Lily James in the title role is beautiful, as is Helena Bonham-Carter & Cate Blanchett, who nails being the cold-hearted step mother. Fans young & old will enjoy Cinderella!
Mad Max
This film is absolutely amazing. I was not familiar at all with Mad Max prior to Michael showing me the first 3 with the always-awesome on-screen, Mel Gibson. Did you know part 3 has Tina Turner?! Fury Road, starring Tom Hardy as Max, is not a sequel or prequel, but rather simply another plot & insight to Max. When Max meets Furiosa (played by the always outstanding Charlize Theron), a woman attempting to get back to her land, along with a group of female stowaways, they all team up against evil villain, Immortan Joe & thus begins a non-stop race & countless chases. Like what other critics have commented, Fury Road really nails it at celebrating feminism without making it all “Girl Power” & overboard. This could easily be one of the most intense, powerful films of 2015 & hopefully The Academy recognizes all of Director, George Miller’s efforts to ensure this film is spectacular.
Tomorrowland
Have you ver been to one of the Disney resorts & dreamed that your favorite land, like Tomorrowland, is real? Well, the next best thing to make that dream a reality is to see this film! George Clooney stars as Frank, a man who is gifted to help change the world yet due to restrictions & negativity throughout his life, has become a recluse. Then, his old chum, Athena, introduces him to Casey, a young rebel who is also a dreamer & world-changer in the making. With stunning visual effects & spot-on acting, Tomorrowland has a lot to offer for all. I was so impressed at the acting capabilities of the cast, & such kudos to Clooney who holds his own with this film while letting his young female stars shine with him.
Have you seen any of these? Let me know in the comments what you thought &/or if theres another film I need to see!
